With Daddy reading them to her, Chloe wrote these words tonight!

More garden

This is the world's best smelling rose. I don't know what it is, but the smell is simply amazing.

We have SIX clematis plants in the backyard! I killed one last year (by pruning just a bit too eagerly), but bought one to replace it. Here are two that I didn't prune:

Ballet - the "show"

Chloe and her best friend, Sabine, took a ballet class together. Here are a couple photos from the last day, when they put on a show.

While she generally had fun, Chloe definitely isn't a ballet girl. She loves to dance, but is much more of a funk/hip hop kind of dancer. There's a hip hop class for little kids, so we'll probably try that next time!

After the show, Sabine came to play in "Chloe's Park":

Little green thumbs

Planting the giant pumpkin (they can grow up to 100 lbs!). We're aiming for a few medium sized ones ;)

And a zucchini:

The playcentre

Our backyard is huge (if you didn't know that already) and it came with a rock-filled area, on which the previous owners had a trampoline. We didn't want the trampoline, but knew it would be the perfect place for a playcentre!

We started with the one we borrowed from Dare's sister (this photo is from September 2008, just after we moved in)

And in April 2009, we started by clearing out all the rocks...and by we, I mean Dare ; )

Then we unpacked the playcentre (which we bought from Costco).

And slowly started putting it together:

First swing:
It's built! At this point we still had to extend the landscape tie border, and fill with new pea gravel.

First slide:

Chloe was so excited to see the dumptruck!

That's a lot of gravel to shovel!
Markus (and Sabine, who didn't want to be in the photo) helped out:
And done!
