All dressed up and no place to go...

No, Dare didn't dress her, this is her own doing. Socks on hands is a favourite of Chloe's. The dancing skirt and rainboots are just the gravy :p

Puddle-jumper

I used to love going puddle-jumping - even when I was a teenager ;) - and so I was excited to take Chloe out this spring. We had the perfect day today, and here are two of my favourite photos. Hopefully they'll make it onto a scrapbook layout one of these days

We used my dad's camera, which is waterproof, but doesn't have a quick shutter, hence the blurriness.

Chloe had a blast. She always tries to jump in puddles when she sees them, but of course we try to stop her, as she's not usually wearing her boots. So to go out to jump in puddles on purpose was very exciting!

We don't eat at McDonald's THAT often, I swear!

Almost every time we put her in the car, Chloe asks for french fries. Then chicken, then pancakes. I have no clue where this comes from, as we almost never eat take-out. Strangeness. Now she knows it's a game, so she laughs like a maniac as she asks. She's weird, but we love her anyway!

This photo is from Chloe's family birthday party. Her Bubbe (Darren's mom) bought her a dress with a matching dress for Baby Emma, and she insisted we put it on her right away! Isn't she adorable?

Master of the Obvious

New Year's day, we were sitting down to breakfast with friends. Everyone was seated around the kitchen table, with Chloe in her high chair at the end. Just as we all started eating, she looked around (with a serious look on her face) and said: "Whatcha doing, guys?" I just about spit out my hashbrowns, it was so funny!

Here's a photo of us from New Year's Eve. We took it at "midnight" which was 9pm PST (midnight EST).

Ah, toddlers.

If you haven't figured it out already, I'm mom to a wonderful little girl, who is two-going-on-fifteen. Chloe makes us laugh, but also want to tear our hair out. No different than any other toddler, I'm sure!

Here's a couple from tonight:

1. Chloe wanted something from the fridge. She tried opening it, and then told me:
"It's locked, Mommy"
"It's just closed, it's not locked"
"Locked!"
"Closed"
"Locked!"
(yes, I have these silly arguments with my kid, it's all good fun, and makes me laugh)
"Okay Chloe, it's locked"
"No, CLOSED!"
Sigh. This repeated three times before I just gave up, and distracted her with an apple.

2. While getting ready for bed, Chloe told me that Ginger (our cat) calls her Kiki:
"Ginger calls you Kiki?" I repeated.
"Yeah"
"Who's Kiki?"
"Me!"

As you can see, Chloe has a thing for putting her socks on her hands. Oh, and checking for toe lint :p

You'll have to be potty trained first, my dear.

Chloe needed a diaper change, and really didn't want to cooperate. I finally got her to lie down, and got her diaper off, and got out the wipes. She pushed away my hands, and told me:

"Keep your hands to yourself!"

(it's what they say at daycare, if they're hitting or otherwise bothering another kid)

Sigh. If only we didn't have to change her diapers anymore!

Chloe-isms

As a toddler, Chloe comes up with her fair share of funny statements. For the purposes of this blog, we'll call them chloe-isms!

One of the first chloe-isms I can remember is our trip to Mexico, which was in February, 2007. Chloe was signing about as much as she was speaking, and when she saw an iguana on the beach, she kept signing elephant! We were so impressed, as she used the closest word she could think of to describe the lizard.
