Our Christmas Tree(s)

I took photos with the lights off, and the lights on, so you can see some of the details. This is our new tree. It's huge! It's pre-lit with 1,000 lights, so it's nice and bright. This photo was taken with all the lights in the house off, and you can see how the tree lights up the room!
I've yet to find a topper and/or tree skirt that I like, so ignore the ugly stand and cord!
This was the first tree Dare and I bought; when we lived in the tiny condo, we didn't have room for anything bigger. Now it's technically Chloe's tree, with some of her own special ornaments on it.

We had a bit of snow

It snowed the other day, but nothing significant. Last night it started snowing again, and didn't stop until tonight around 7pm. We all stayed home (although I managed to get quite a bit of work done - the joy of having a laptop) and Brenda came over to play with Chloe outside while Dare shovelled.

Anyway, I took a break to take a few photos.
At 1pm:

At 6pm:

Hey!

Me/Dare/anyone: "Hey!"
Chloe: "Hay is for horses!"

I crack up every time she says that.

Yes, that would be nice

Chloe: "I have to tell you something about something."
Me (Jessica): "Okay, what?"
Pointing to a frame of photos from our trip to Mexico (when she was 13 months old):
C: "You need to go in that blue picture."
J: (thinking she's seen Harry Potter without us knowing) "The picture with you and Daddy? In the pool? Where you're in the boat?"
C: "Yes. You need to go in that photo."
J: "Well, I took the photo, so I couldn't be in it."
C: "Oh."
...
C: "Remember when we went to that sandbox?" (pointing at another of the Mexico photos)
J: "You mean the beach?"
C: "Yes. Can we go there again? Can we go there tomorrow?"
J: "I'd really like to, but it's far away."
C: "That's okay, we can drive the car there."

********************
As she was about to stick the end of her fork into her ear:
Dare: "Chloe, don't put that in your ear. Don't put anything into your ear."
C: "No forks? But only logs and sticks."
D: "Um, no. No logs or sticks...or rocks."
C: "Oh. Okay."

So very true

Brenda was over the other night, and Chloe was asking about my drink (I think I had a glass of wine). I explained that it was for grown-ups, and she said:

"You're a grown-up, Daddy's a grown-up," and pointing at Brenda, "and you're a FUNNY grown-up!"

******************************
Chloe and I went to the grocery store the other day, and as we drove away, she insisted we go back. When I asked why, she said:

"We have to get ham and milk!"

The funny part is neither were on my shopping list, and I hadn't mentioned that we need either ham or milk. She just decided we needed both. Oh, and I checked, we had both in the fridge.

*****************************
ps. Santa photos should be coming soon. Just waiting for my dad to send them to me! My camera died just as she sat on Santa's lap. Thankfully my dad was taking photos as well.

Catch phrases

Chloe's latest catch phrases:

"Are you kidding me?"
"What the heck?"
"WHAT?" (you have to hear how she says this - if you know Brenda, you know what I mean)

She seems to be quite the incredulous kid :p

They're popping up everywhere!

Moles, that is. Darren and I both have lots of moles. Chloe wasn't born with any (which is normal), but we noticed many months ago that she has a large one on her backside. She can *just* twist around to see it, so she thinks it's hilarious.

Now over the last few weeks, we've found many more moles. Apparently they slowly develop over years, so who knows how many she'll end up with!

Oh, and just because, here's Chloe at her first movie, "Bolt". We took her on Saturday. She enjoyed it, and says her favourite part was the popcorn :p

And finally, a photo she took of us:

Nice try.

I had a hard time trying to wake Chloe up yesterday. She's been sick, and didn't want to get out of bed. I reminded her that she had daycare and I had to go to work.

Chloe: "But it's Saturday!"
Me: "Nope, it's Wednesday. Three more days until Saturday."
Chloe: "Oh. Is it Friday?"

I guess she was hoping for a short week. Aren't we all?

Various Chloe-isms

Last week I overheard this conversation:
Chloe: When I get bigger, I will have a penis.
Darren: Um, no, you're a girl. You won't have a penis.
Chloe: Oh. But when I get bigger I'll have a penis.
Darren: No. You're a girl. You have a vagina.
Chloe: But I'll get bigger. And have a penis.
[Jessica losing it in the kitchen, barely holding in the snorting]

Tonight on the phone:
Chloe: Darren, where's your dad?
Darren: My dad? My dad is Papa. I think he's at home.
Chloe: Oh. But where is your OTHER daddy?

And a sweet one. Last night:
Chloe: I love you.
Me: I love you too.
Chloe: And always will.
[Jessica melts into a big puddle of goo]

Head, meet pavement

October 2008

You've already seen the Pumpkin Catch (according to Chloe, that's how you say it) and Chloe's 33 month photos, but of course we also have Halloween!

Before that, here's Chloe at a local gymnastics centre, for a birthday party. Her favourite part was definitely the foam pit.

We weren't really planning on dressing her up. If anything, I was just going to pull something from her dress-up clothes. But for weeks she's been telling everyone she's going to be a cat. No idea where that came from. I guess it's what she really wanted! So I stayed up Thursday night making a tail from some leftover velvet material and ears (covered in the same velvet). :p

She LOVED answering the door, and we actually went out and hit five or six houses. Here she is with her first ever lollipop. She loved it :p

September 2008

We took very few photos in September, as we were just too busy unpacking and painting. So if you want to see some, look here, here, here, here, here, here, and here. Those last four are all the garden photos.

August 2008

The big excitement in August was camping and moving. I'll have some updated photos of the new house soon, so here are a few of the camping photos.

We went camping at Lundbom Lake, which is just outside of Merritt. We took Chloe here last year, for her first camping trip. We've been going to this lake for over seven years, including our "mini-moon", right after our wedding.

July 2008

I've already posted some the July photos, including these and Nan's visit.

At the beginning of July, we camped out with the family at Fern & Jeff's place, for their annual 4th of July weekend. It includes the Point Roberts parade, as well as our family talent show. Our talent was "Circle Time with Chloe", where we sang and performed several nursery songs.

Also in July, Brenda and I took Chloe to the Greater Vancouver Zoo:
